Nick Jonas' "Numb" feat. Angel Haze - Song Review

First off... can we just stare at the picture above for a few seconds and fantasize......... Okay, ready?!

Nick Jonas, formerly of the pure-hearted Jonas Brothers, has been working his vocals and abs the past few months in hopes of a successful solo music career. While "Chains" and "Jealous" showed the artist finding his footing, his new collaboration, "Numb", with rapper Angel Haze is a confidence, sultry, R&B/hip-hop cut that showcases both maturity and sex appeal.

Immediately, comparisons to Justin Timberlake will be made, that is not a bad thing. "Numb", co-written by Mike Posner, is a hard-hitting, sexy tune that definitely highlights Jonas' ever-improving vocal delivery. It seems to be following in the footsteps of Timberlake's path to solo stardom. "Smile on my face, to cover the hurt, spent so much time, but what was I worth," Jonas questions on the track dealing with heartache following a devastating breakup.

While the new album cut would have worked perfectly as a solo venture, Jonas calls on the underrated Angel Haze for a fast-paced additional rap verse that ties well into the overall message and feeling of the song. The song becomes a dark, somber pop track that has potential to crossover with its hip-hop influence. It's the perfect combination of genres.

People may be preoccupied with Jonas and his recently released, semi-nude photo spread, they actually helped his single "Jealous" crack the iTunes top ten, however, he is surely proving himself to be a capable musician all on his own. "Numb" could be released as a future single, it will surely become a hit, but for right now we will keep believing its status as only a promotional single.
