BB Creams - are they worth it?

Bloody weather!

I was planning on writing a piece about spending the day with a BB cream and reviewing it. I decided to challenge myself by only wearing a BB cream for a day around town with the Boy. However, the weather had other ideas!

So I have been rather late to the BB cream craze. I genuinely didn't have one until now. I decided to start my search with the new MAC BB cream which is amazing and I also made a purchase of some Bobbi Brown BB cream too.

To start with - I thought we would have a quick look at the functions of BB creams. Basically they have a few different functions and they aim to make applying your various foundation products easier. A BB cream can have the same functions as a primer, moisturiser, light foundation, SPF and highlighter. It does have a few downsides though. The coverage is very very light and also, the texture can be quite oily which is great for those of us with dry skin but if your skin is already oily - its not great.
The BB creams will be replaced by CC creams which are already on the Asian market and are basically color correctors. They have a heavier coverage and can be used to correct skin problems like redness or pigmentation. I am not sure if there is a release date for a European product yet.

So far almost every brand has a BB cream. Bobbi Brown has the most popular cream but there are even brands on the high street such as 17 or Rimmel.

I started my day by applying the foundation. I chose a day where I was just shopping in town and not at work. I normally wear face and body foundation from MAC on my days off but today I thought I would upgrade to this. I was amazed at how much coverage I normally wear. I always thought that  F&B was a lower coverage foundation but I realised that I add a heavy concealer (I suffer from break outs) and powder over the top. I had to stop myself from applying a concealer over the BB cream!

It looked amazing on the skin. My skin looks as if it was glowing and fresh. I did have to add concealer over a spot as there is NO coverage with them. I did feel it was perfect for my day off though.

I planned to take a picture after the day and show you but the heavens opened and by the time I got home I was ruined! It would have taken a foundation of cement properties to withstand the shower I walked home in!!! My hair is still soaking!

All in all, I'm happy with a BB cream for my days off. It solves the problem of my laziness which means no seperate primer, etc. It also means you save money on multiple products but I wouldn't recommend it to those with oily skin, spots or anyone looking for large amounts of coverage.
