Right now we're going to take a look at the Samsung Galaxy Alpha. When I first saw the phone, Samsung were showing of the metal build that it can stand up on it's own. But my first reaction was... 'Meh!'. It looks like very similar to any other Samsung phones, and it might even look like a mini version of Galaxy S5.
But lets do a Samsung Galaxy Alpha review, take a closer look at this phone. The thing that make Galaxy Alpha different from any other Samsung phones like S5 and Note 3, it's pretty small. But the bit focus here is obviously the material of choice it feels in the hand. It is the whole point of the phone. The main way they have done that is by adding a metal band all the way around the frame of the phone where they used plastic before.Whenever you hold the phone, you are holding a metal. This is actually reminds me of iPhone 5s in a lot of ways.
it feels very premium from the front and sides, but if you flip it over to the back, suddently it is just the same old Samsung smartphone. Plastic, soft touch, removable back. Don't get me wrong, removable is great, you got the access to remove battery. But the back material doesn't feel premium as the metal around it. It seems confuse. Samsung Galaxy Alpha does have beastly specs. It has LTE -A, octa-core processor, 2GB RAM, ISOCELL technology as the GS5's 16-megapixel sensor. But then it drops to 12 megapixels camera on the back, 720 Pentile display and this is not really as good as as other 4.7 inches display phone. But the screen is very vibrant and saturated. Very pleasing but when you look up close, you will see this is not a high end panel.
The performances are also really smooth and the software experience is very similar to the Galaxy S5. But in the end, Samsung Galaxy Alpha is definitely an improved phone, no doubt. Significantly better feeling in the hand than the Galaxy S5. Probably one of my favorite phone if you just want to hold it. But I still stick with my first impression of Samsung Galaxy Alpha, 'meh!'.
