I recently managed to get my hands on a couple of new collections from Color Club, one being the Pop Chalk Collection. Is it me or do Color Club release a bunch of collections at the same time and do it ever so quietly? I have seen another new collection pop up in the last week or so as well. It's crazy. Anyway, today I have the Pop Chalk Collection to share with you. This collection is made up of seven matte polishes in a mix of neon and pastel neon shades.
The formula amongst these polish is pretty consistent. They all are easy to work with, they do apply a little unevenly (some more than others) and do have some visible brush strokes (not as bad as some metallic polishes). I also recommend using minimal brush strokes with these as they can drag the base colour off. The dry time on these are longer than I expected. They aren't fast but they also aren't super slow either. Personally I find a creme polish in most cases dries quicker.
Chalk It Up is a matte white polish. Unless you are into buying a full collection this one I would probably skip. You can get the same look (and probably even a smoother look) with a regular white polish and a matte top coat. My swatch shows two coats.
Cliff Notes is neon yellow matte polish. This one is very streaky on the first coat. I used three coats for my swatch.
Extra Credit is a pastel yellow matte polish. This one is actually very similar to Color Club's Disco's Not Dead from the Pastel Neon Collection. Honestly, based on what they look like in the bottles I would skip over this one and just use a matte top coat to get the same look. I used three coats for my swatch.
Schoolyard Crush is a pastel orange matte polish. This one is actually very similar in colour to Color Club's Hot-Hot-Hot Pants. Again, I would skip over this one if you own Hot-Hot-Hot Pants and just use a matte top coat. My swatch shows three coats.
Study Buddy is a matte neon coral polish. This one definitely has one of the better formulas in this collection. It's not as streaky and you can get away with two coats. I used three coats for my swatch.
Tic-Tac-Toe is a matte green polish. I used three coats for my swatch.
Trapper Keeper is a matte blue polish. I really like this colour matte. It's so cool. This polish also has the best formula and is opaque in two coats.
Overall, I like this collection but I don't love it. As I mentioned there are a few of the polishes that you can skip over and get the same look using a regular matte top coat.
